Geoff Duncan

Geoff Duncanis and always was a Republican

Former Republican Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan thinks he can insult Georgia voters by running from his record of destruction while in office, but voters remember the harm he caused during his disastrous tenure.

Duncan wasn’t even a moderate Republican — he ran on an extremist platform, overseeing the passage of Georgia’s voter suppression law, deadly abortion ban, and extreme gun laws.

Not to mention his attempts to defund the Affordable Care Act, all while opposing the expansion of Medicaid for struggling Georgia families.

But don’t just take it from us — here’s Duncan’s destruction, in his own words.

Banned Abortion

Self-proclaimed “100% pro-life” Geoff Duncan said it was an “easy decision” to force Georgia’s deadly abortion ban into law, and that he was “grateful to play a part” in passing legislation that has killed multiple Georgia women.

Today was a good day for Brooke and I. Grateful to play a part in passing this important life saving legislation that will positively affect the next generation

We aren’t here because we read this in a political playbook. We are here because we support life.

[Backing the abortion ban was an] easy decision for me.

The unborn need a champion to defend their rights in the face of malicious organizations such as Planned Parenthood.

Attacked Voting Rights

Geoff Duncan proudly backed SB 202, voter suppression legislation that made national headlines for making it harder for Black voters to cast their ballot. Duncan praised the bill as a “pretty good piece of legislation.”

It was a pretty good piece of legislation.

The actual facts and figures of that bill do not mimic any sort of Jim Crow – they don’t deserve to be analyzed as any sort of Jim Crow 2.0 or any sort of a voter suppression mandate.

Georgia’s election reform law isn’t voter suppression

Stopped Medicaid Expansion

Geoff Duncan spent his career saying he “doesn’t want to expand Medicaid,” calling the program “bad healthcare” and a “political solution” while denying hundreds of thousands of Georgians access to health insurance.

Medicaid is bad healthcare, there’s no other way to put it

This republican doesn’t want to expand Medicaid.

Innovation, not Medicaid, will create a healthy Georgia.

[Medicaid expansion is a] political solution that promises free health care in exchange for votes.

As we have seen with the Affordable Care Act, expanding a government program such as Medicaid is not a solution to providing quality healthcare.

Refused to Vote for Sen. Warnock

Geoff Duncan claims to have flip-flopped to the Democratic Party, yet he refuses to vote for Democrats when it really matters.

“Georgia deserve better than Sen. Warnock, whose left-wing voting record is way out of step with their priorities and would never earn my support.”

Opposed the Affordable Care Act

Geoff Duncan railed against the Affordable Care Act, calling the program that provides millions of Georgians with healthcare access a “really bad idea” and an “entitlement” that should be defunded”.

#Obamacare was a bad idea before we had all the facts. Now that we know more….. it’s a really bad idea.

Now that we have people’s attention that #Obamacare is not the answer…we need to begin to offer real healthcare solutions.

The only way #Obamacare will ever work is if 350 million Americans never get sick or injured. @LessGovMoreFun

It’s important to just not jam a specific idea down a community’s throat.

Put Guns in Criminals’ Hands

Geoff Duncan bragged over, and over, and over again about his glowing endorsement and “A” rating from the NRA — all while passing some of the most extreme gun laws in the country that have allowed guns in our schools and made it easier for criminals to obtain firearms.

During my time in the State House, I proudly voted to expand and restore your 2nd amendment rights at every turn.

The only form of gun control I believe in is using two hands.

Well folks, liberal gun grabbers are angry about my A-rating from the @NRA and strong support of the 2nd Amendment. But I will never apologize for being a pro-God, pro-gun conservative.

“Busted” Unions

Working people and organized labor built Georgia’s economy, yet time and time again, Geoff Duncan put big, out-of-state corporations ahead of their interests. He even bragged about union busting, making it a key part of his list of “successes” as a legislator.
